Student Activism Scholarship
With the intent of assisting students in the work of Social Justice, Cactus & Tropicals has partnered with the University of Utah in offering a new Student Activism Scholarship, as follows:
Scholarship Overview:
Social Activism is an intentional action seeking to bring about social change. Social issues include individual and institutional racism, civil rights, poverty, income and opportunity inequality, immigration, environment, and education.
In response to heightened social challenges, Cactus & Tropicals has partnered with The Student Development & Inclusion Office and the Student Union to establish the Student Activism Scholarship. This scholarship will financially support a student scholar in developing a module for student activism on campus. This student will study the role of activism in our campus and community and then mentor other students through the process of organizing, protesting, and implementing their plan to be civically engaged and urge action against the vast array of social or environmental conditions that are unjust.
Diversity Training
In our commitment to the work of social justice and anti racism in our community, we have provided our management team with professional training focused on implicit biases, white fragility, privilege, cultural appropriation and systemic racism. We will continue to actively learn and work towards a fair and safe community for all.
