INDOOR PLANT
WATERING GUIDELINES

Water your plant enough to saturate the entire root ball. Wait until the plant uses up the water before watering again.

HOW OFTEN IS THAT?

The amount of water depends on the size of the pot. Enough so that the entire root ball gets a drink and water runs into the liner. It is ok to leave the plant sitting in water as long as the water is gone before you water again.

HOW OFTEN DO I WATER?

When the top of the soil is dry and there is no water left in the liner.

HOW MUCH WATER IS THAT?

It depends on the size of the pot, the size of the plant, the amount of light it gets and the temperature. Remember, plants in high light use water faster.

The right amount of water is all your new plants need to thrive. The soil has all the nutrients for healthy growth and the grow pot is just the right size. The soil will begin to deplete after a year or so. When this happens, take a sharp stick and poke several holes in the root ball. Add some fresh soil and make sure to water the plant. This will prune the roots and replenish the nutrients in the soil. As your plant grows, pruning is the best way to keep your plant healthy. Staking or tying it up is not the best solution for the health of your plants.

PESTS GIVING YOU TROUBLE?

Like all plants, houseplants will occasionally come under attack from pests. These insects can be just as voracious as their outdoor counterparts but have the added benefit of developing and reproducing in near ideal conditions. As a result, houseplant pests can multiply very quickly, so you have to be diligent about checking for symptoms. If you notice a plant that suddenly begins to look ill, take a closer look — chances are an insect is responsible. Infestations can be very severe and plants that have had more than half of their leaves damaged are probably not worth saving. For this reason, it is important to identify and control indoor plant pests as quickly as possible. Below are descriptions and remedies for several indoor garden invaders.
